What a travel agency website template needs

Most travellers find you on Instagram or Google, then check your website before they message. The website's job is to answer their questions so the WhatsApp chat starts with “I want to book” rather than “what's the price?”.

  1. Packages with inclusions and exclusions. Hotels, meals, transfers and sightseeing in one list; flights, entry tickets and tips in another. Unclear inclusions cause most disputes.
  2. A day-by-day itinerary. Day 1 Delhi to Haridwar, Day 2 Barkot. People share these with family before they decide.
  3. Price per person. On twin sharing, with the child price and single supplement, and a note on whether GST is included.
  4. Dates and seasons. Fixed departures, peak surcharges and months when a trip doesn't run.
  5. Enquiry on WhatsApp. A short form for dates, travellers and the package, sent as one message to your number.
  6. Cancellation and payment terms. The advance, when the balance is due and what is refunded.
  7. Proof you are real. Office address, GSTIN, registrations, team photos and reviews with names and months.

Every template here has all seven. Packages, prices, inclusions and itineraries live in one data file, so you edit text, not code.

Registrations worth showing on a tour operator website

Travellers hand over large advances to people they have never met, so anything that proves you are a real business helps. Show the ones you actually have:

  • GSTIN on the contact page and on every invoice.
  • State tourism registration. Some states, such as Goa and Kerala, register tour operators, houseboats or adventure operators. Check what your state requires.
  • Ministry of Tourism recognition. Voluntary, but a strong signal for inbound and domestic tour operators.
  • IATA accreditation if you issue air tickets yourself, and IRCTC authorisation if you are an authorised ticketing agent.
  • Memberships such as TAAI, IATO or ADTOI, if you belong.

The templates have a “Registration” line on the contact page with sample numbers. Replace them with yours, or delete the line. Never show a badge you don't hold.

GST and TCS on tour packages, explained carefully

Tour operators in India commonly charge GST at 5% on the full package value, without claiming input tax credit on the hotels and transport inside it. Some agents instead bill only their own service charge, or claim credit, and charge 18% on that. Corporate event and offsite packages are often billed at 18% so companies can claim credit. Which one applies depends on how you invoice, so confirm with your CA before you publish prices.

For overseas packages there is also TCS (tax collected at source), collected from the traveller and claimable in their income-tax return. At the time of writing it is 5% up to ₹10 lakh in a year and 20% above that. Rules change with each Budget, so check the current rate.

Tax rates used in the templates' calculators (sample values you can change)
TemplateWhat it adds
Most domestic tour templatesGST at 5% on the package
Offsite Co.GST at 18% on group and event packages
Jetset AbroadGST at 5% plus TCS on the package, shown line by line
Sawari CabsGST at 5% on the fare, not on tolls or permits

The rates sit at the top of each template's calculator file, so you can set the ones your CA confirms.

How to get bookings from a tour operator website

  1. Set up your Google Business Profile. Add the website, office photos, WhatsApp number and ask every happy traveller for a review. “Travel agent near me” searches go here first.
  2. One page per trip. “Kedarnath yatra from Ahmedabad” or “Ladakh bike trip from Delhi” are what people search. Each package page in these templates can target one.
  3. Link every Instagram reel to the package. Put the package link in your bio and stories, not just “DM for price”.
  4. Reply fast on WhatsApp. The enquiry arrives with dates and travellers filled in. Send the quote and a payment link the same hour.
  5. Publish your next departures. A visible “6 seats left” on a dated departure moves people who have been thinking for weeks.
  6. Bring past travellers back. Share the next season's trips on your WhatsApp broadcast list with a link to the website.

If you also run a homestay or resort, see the hotel website templates. For what a custom build would cost instead, read website development cost in India.

Questions people ask

Is there a free travel website template?

Yes. Every travel template on Hyklates is free to download and use for your agency or tour business, as long as the small 'Template by Hyklates' credit stays in the footer. A one-time licence removes it.

What should a tour operator website have?

Packages with a clear price per person, a day-by-day itinerary, what is included and what is not, the cancellation policy, your registrations and GSTIN, real reviews, and a one-tap way to enquire on WhatsApp or by phone.

How do I make a website for my travel agency?

Pick the template closest to your business, replace the sample packages, itineraries, prices and photos in its data file, set your WhatsApp number, then put it online with free hosting on Netlify or Cloudflare Pages and connect your own domain.

Can customers book and pay on these templates?

The templates collect the enquiry with dates, travellers and the package, and send it to your WhatsApp. Most Indian travel agents confirm details and take an advance by UPI or a payment link after a chat. You can add an online payment gateway later.

How much GST applies to tour packages in India?

Tour operators commonly charge 5% GST on the full package value without claiming input tax credit, or 18% if they bill only their own service or claim credit. Rules depend on how you bill, so confirm with your CA before you publish prices.

Do I need IATA or Ministry of Tourism approval to run a travel website?

No approval is needed to run a website. IATA accreditation matters if you issue air tickets yourself, and Ministry of Tourism recognition is voluntary. Some states require tour operators to register with the state tourism department, so check your state's rules.

Can I use these templates for a taxi or cab business?

Yes. Sawari Cabs is built for outstation cabs and car rentals, with a fleet page, popular routes and a fare estimator that includes driver allowance, tolls and permits.

How much does a travel agency website cost in India?

A custom travel website from a freelancer or agency usually costs ₹15,000 to ₹80,000, more with online booking. Starting from a free template removes most of the design cost.

Can someone set up my travel website for me?

Yes. Hykvra puts any of these templates live with your packages, photos, prices and domain, from ₹4,999 including the domain and first-year hosting.
