NGO website templates for Indian trusts and charities (free, 2026)
By Hykvra · Updated 20 October 2026 · 9 min read
A good NGO website template gives a trust or charity four things: a clear mission, proof of impact, registration details donors can check, and an easy way to give or volunteer. Below are 10 free NGO website templates for Indian organisations, from food banks and temple trusts to CSR foundations, each with UPI donations and WhatsApp sign-up built in.
Most donors in India find a cause through a WhatsApp forward, an Instagram post or a friend. Before they give, they open your website on their phone to check one thing: is this organisation real? Everything below is about answering that question quickly.

What should an NGO website include to earn donor trust?
A donor gives money to people they will never meet. Your website has to replace the handshake. These are the sections that do it, roughly in the order a careful donor looks for them.
- Who you are, legally. Say whether you are a trust, society or Section 8 company, with the registration number and the city it was registered in. Add your NGO Darpan ID if you have one, and name your trustees or board.
- 12A, 80G and FCRA, only if you hold them. Show the registration numbers you actually have. Never show a number you have applied for as if it were approved. The templates mark these as samples so you remember to replace or remove them.
- Annual reports and audited accounts. List the last two or three years. If you do not want to post the PDFs, offer a “request a copy” button, as every template here does.
- Impact numbers with a date. “4,200 children in school in 2025–26” is believable. “Lakhs of lives changed” is not. Keep the numbers you can back up.
- Where the money goes. What ₹500, ₹2,000 or ₹10,000 actually pays for. Specific amounts make people give.
- Real stories and photos. From your own work, with consent, and without showing children or patients in ways that take away their dignity.
- A working phone number and address. A real office address and a number someone answers matter more than any design choice.
How to take donations on an NGO website
Small and mid-sized Indian NGOs rarely need a payment gateway on day one. UPI is free, every donor already has it, and the money lands in your bank account directly. The templates use a flow that works well for this:
- The donor picks an amount, a sponsorship, a seva or a set of relief kits.
- The page shows a UPI link (and your bank details for larger transfers).
- A WhatsApp message opens with the amount and purpose, so the donor can send their name, PAN and address for the receipt.
- You send a receipt within a day or two. Prompt receipts are what bring donors back.
If you hold 80G approval, explain it carefully. In short: donors who claim deductions under the old tax regime can usually deduct 50% of a donation to an 80G-approved organisation, within limits, and only for donations not made in cash above ₹2,000. You will also need the donor's PAN to file your donation statement and issue their certificate. These rules change, so confirm the exact wording with your CA before you publish it. The templates include a short sample 80G note that you can edit or remove.
If you are not registered under FCRA, say on the donate page that you accept donations from Indian citizens only. Once you grow, a gateway like Razorpay adds cards, automatic receipts and recurring monthly giving.
| Option | Cost | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| UPI link and WhatsApp (built in) | Free | Most small and mid-sized NGOs |
| Bank transfer details | Free | Large one-time gifts and CSR grants |
| Payment gateway (Razorpay and others) | A small fee on each payment | Cards, monthly giving, automatic receipts |
Volunteer sign-up that people finish
Volunteers are often as valuable as money. Keep the form short: name, phone, city, what they can help with and when they are free. Every template has a “get involved” page with a volunteer form that sends the details to your WhatsApp, so a coordinator can reply the same day. Sehat Health Camps goes further, with separate sign-ups for doctors, nurses and helpers on each camp. Add a line on corporate volunteering if you work with companies.
The templates, one by one
Each one has nine pages, including your programmes, a donation or booking tool, stories, a volunteer page and an about page with registration details. Preview the whole site before you download.

Charity and trust website design ideas
- Match the mood to the cause. Warm and traditional for a temple or elder care trust, bold for a food bank or shelter, sober and data-led for a CSR foundation, urgent for disaster relief.
- Put one action above the fold. Donate, sponsor, adopt or volunteer. Pick the one that matters most and make it obvious.
- Show amounts, not just causes. A calculator that turns ₹1,000 into meals or trees answers “what will my money do?” better than a paragraph.
- Write for a phone and a slow connection. Many donors and volunteers browse on mobile data. Light pages load fast.
- Keep the tone factual. Avoid guilt-heavy images and exaggerated claims. Respect builds more trust than pity.
Launch checklist
- Replace the sample name, programmes, stories, photos and impact numbers with yours.
- Replace or delete the sample 12A, 80G and FCRA lines. Keep only what you actually hold.
- Add your annual reports and audited accounts, or a way to request them.
- Set your UPI ID, bank details and WhatsApp number, then make a test donation of ₹1.
- Have your CA check the 80G note and receipt wording.
- Put the site online with free hosting and your own domain, and add it to your Google Business Profile and social bios.

Questions people ask
Is there a free NGO website template?
Yes. Every NGO and charity template on Hyklates is free to download and use for your organisation, as long as the small 'Template by Hyklates' credit stays in the footer. A one-time licence removes it.
How do I create a website for my NGO for free?
Pick a free template that fits your cause, replace the sample text with your mission, programmes, impact numbers and registration details, add your UPI ID and WhatsApp number, then host it free on Netlify or Cloudflare Pages. The only cost is your own domain name, which is optional but makes the site look more trustworthy.
Can people donate through these templates?
Yes. Each template has a donation flow that ends in a UPI link and a WhatsApp message, so the money goes straight to your bank account with no gateway fees. You can add a payment gateway such as Razorpay later if you want automatic receipts.
What should an NGO website show to build trust?
Your registration type and number, 12A, 80G and FCRA details only if you actually hold them, the trustees or board, an annual report and audited accounts, real impact numbers with the year they refer to, photos from the field and a working phone number and address.
Do donors get a tax deduction under 80G?
Only if your organisation holds a valid 80G approval, and only for donors who claim it under the old tax regime. Cash donations above ₹2,000 do not qualify. The deduction is usually 50% of the amount, within limits. Rules change, so ask your CA to confirm the wording before you publish it.
Can an NGO website accept foreign donations?
Only if the organisation is registered under FCRA, and foreign money must arrive in its designated FCRA account. If you are not registered, say clearly on the donate page that you accept donations from Indian citizens only.
Can someone set up my NGO website for me?
Yes. Hykvra puts any of these templates live with your programmes, photos, UPI details and domain, from ₹4,999 including the domain and first-year hosting.
